New employees must request general access to Banner by visiting the MSU Denver ITS webpage.
Training is no longer required to gain general Banner access from ITS. However, additional training resources are available:
Note: Job specific training should be conducted by individual departments.
Existing employees can request access to specific Banner student module forms; this must be requested by their supervisor.
Certain positions have specialized required Banner training modules, which will be arranged at the time that security access is granted.

Information and instructions on running CAPP reports directly through Banner on-campus.
CAPP ReportsRosters are for faculty use only and are to be treated as confidential. Students’ identification numbers appear on these lists, thus they are subject to FERPA.
Up-to-the-minute, accurate class rosters are available for all classes in Faculty Menu. Faculty may print a class roster the day before or an hour before the class meets, and as often as needed throughout the semester. Under NO circumstances should faculty post rosters in public or via email.
* Note: Instructors should see class lists for every term they have/had a class. Instructors can use the term dropdown to filter the results. If there is no enrollment in a course, it will not appear in the Class List page. Instructors can contact their department class schedule coordinator for those courses with zero enrollments.
All inquiries for department class schedule creation, classroom reservation, special POT, and any class scheduling forms should be emailed to [email protected].

Grading Procedures & Grade Changes
The last step in wrapping up classes for the semester is submitting grades. If you made an error with a student’s grade, there’s an easy solution! We appreciate the work that you do as an MSU Denver faculty member and we want to ensure that this task can be completed with ease.
As a faculty member of MSU Denver, it is your responsibility to oversee and uphold the rights that the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) grant to our students. Under no circumstances should faculty post grades or grade lists in public or via email.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Last Date of Attendance: Title IV financial aid program and the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs require all schools to document a student’s last date of attendance. If a student earned an F, U, or UE grade for any reason, the faculty must document the last date of attendance in class. If a student did not attend, report the first day of class along with 0 (zero) hours attended.
How to Submit Grades using Excel
Rolled means that the grades have been published to the students’ official academic history by the Registrar’s Office. This will occur on the Thursday after Finals week. Until that date, this column will always state “Not Started”, and will not affect your grade submissions.
Faculty can ignore this column.
All grades, except F grades, can be submitted through the normal process.
Due to the timing of Winterim and Maymester, the “last date of attendance” required for assigning an F grade will not be accepted through the typical process in the Faculty Hub.
To assign an F grade for a Winterim and Maymester course, the Office of the Registrar will manually process the grade. Please email the Records and Registration team at [email protected] from your MSU Denver email with the following:
While there is no institutional policy to track attendance, some courses have attendance requirements for grades.
Please follow these guides to track attendance in Banner SSB9:
If you have questions or need assistance with this process, contact our Records and Registration Team.
Refer to the Registration Overrides for step-by-step instructions on how to override a course restriction/department hold to allow a student to register.
