Native Nations Council Mission Statement and Intent of Purpose

Native Nations Council (NNC) is an inclusive affinity group actively promoting the traditional customs, practices, beliefs and way of life of Native people on campus. NNC actively works towards creating a positive impact within the Indigenous community at MSU Denver. NNC stands out for our unique culture that are deeply rooted in a strong connection to the land, recognizing we are the original habitats of this land and we support an environment where members feel valued, respected, and empowered.  We foster a sense of belonging, emphasizing sustainability with harmonious coexistence to the natural world and providing opportunities for personal and professional development. 

  1. The primary purpose of NNC is to: 
  1. Promote support among Native/Indigenous community at MSU, including Faculty, Staff, Students and Alumni.  
  1. Support Native Indigenous Initiatives and Programming 
  1. Build a strong foundation for student and academic services for the Indigenous student body. 
  1. Learn to balance professionalism/Indigeneity in colonial institutions.
